SCORM & LMS delivery

SCORM that survives contact with your LMS.

Voctus develops video-based SCORM courses and packages them to run correctly in your LMS: SCORM 1.2 by default for universal compatibility, SCORM 2004 where your platform's support is verified, and every package tested in SCORM Cloud before handover. Assessments, completion status, and scores report through your LMS's standard tracking.

The problem this solves

"It worked in the demo" is not a deployment standard.

Most SCORM complaints trace to the same root causes: packages authored against one LMS's quirks, video embedded in ways mobile players reject, completion rules that never fire, and no testing against the actual standard. The fix is procedural, not heroic — author to the standard, default to the most compatible version, and test in the reference implementation before anything reaches your platform. That procedure is built into every delivery.

Assessments & analytics

Completion you can show an auditor, not just a dashboard.

01

Knowledge checks where they belong

Questions are written during scripting, at the points the content earns them — scenario judgments for policy, recall checks for procedure. Not a quiz bolted to the end of a video.

02

Standard-conformant tracking

Completion status, scores, and pass/fail report through the SCORM runtime your LMS already understands. No proprietary player, no plugin, no vendor lock on your own training data.

03

Audit-ready evidence

Per-learner completion and score records suitable for compliance evidence and audit trails — the export your risk function asks for in week one of an audit, available from the first learner onward.

04

Tested before it ships

Launch, progress, resume, scoring, and completion verified in SCORM Cloud before handover. If your platform has documented deviations from the standard, we test against those too.

Answered first

The questions that decide a SCORM engagement.

What is SCORM course development?

Producing a course — in our case presenter-led video with embedded assessments — and packaging it to the SCORM standard so any compliant LMS can launch it, track progress, record scores, and report completion. The deliverable is a .zip package containing the course content and an imsmanifest.xml the LMS reads.

Why do SCORM video courses break in some LMSs?

Almost always one of four causes: autoplay policies blocking embedded video, completion rules tied to events that never fire, packages authored against one platform's non-standard behaviour, or mobile players handling media differently from desktop. All four are preventable at authoring time — which is why prevention, not support tickets, is the deliverable.

Do you support xAPI or cmi5?

SCORM remains the default because it is what enterprise LMSs reliably support. Where your platform runs an LRS and you need richer event data, xAPI statements can be added alongside SCORM tracking — scoped per project so you only pay for reporting you will actually use.

What does SCORM development cost?

Published market rates for custom SCORM course development start around the industry floor of $5,000 per finished hour and rise steeply with interactivity — our cost benchmark guide collects the cited numbers. Voctus scopes from your actual materials and returns a fixed statement of work within one business day.

Questions

Asked often. Answered directly.

SCORM 1.2 or SCORM 2004 — which should we ask for?

SCORM 1.2 by default. It is the most universally supported standard and runs correctly in effectively every LMS, including Moodle. SCORM 2004 adds sequencing rules and richer status reporting, but LMS support is uneven — so we deliver it only after verifying behaviour in your specific platform. Our guide to SCORM 1.2 vs 2004 covers the decision in detail.

How do you make sure the package works in our LMS?

Every package is tested in SCORM Cloud — the industry reference implementation — before handover, covering launch, progress tracking, scoring, resume, and completion. Where your LMS is known to deviate from the standard, we verify in the platform itself or against its documented quirks.

What completion and score data will we get?

Per-learner completion status, assessment scores, and pass/fail results, reported through your LMS’s standard SCORM tracking — suitable for compliance evidence and audit trails. If you need reporting beyond what your LMS exposes, hosted delivery with extended analytics is available.

We don’t have an LMS. Can you still deliver?

Yes — hosted delivery with equivalent completion and score tracking, no platform purchase required. If you adopt an LMS later, the same courses re-package to SCORM without re-production.

Can you fix or re-package courses another vendor built?

Usually, yes. If the source files exist, re-packaging and re-testing is straightforward. Without source files we assess module by module — sometimes rebuilding from the extracted content is faster and comes with the advantage that updates stop being hostage to the original vendor.
