Why it matters
North and south hear each other — but notice immediately
Northern (Hanoi) and southern (Ho Chi Minh City) Vietnamese are mutually intelligible but unmistakably distinct in pronunciation and some vocabulary. Broadcast convention treats the northern accent as the formal standard, while a largely southern workforce often finds a southern voice more natural. Neither is wrong; picking one accidentally is. We scope the audience split and recommend accordingly — for nationwide rollouts, northern-standard narration with terminology neutral to both regions is the usual call.

Register: formal address that respects the audience
Vietnamese encodes respect in its pronouns. Corporate training addresses learners as quý vị (formal plural) or anh/chị (respectful adult address) — never the casual forms that would read as talking down. Tone of instruction is softened the way Vietnamese workplace communication expects, and your in-country reviewer signs off the script before narration is recorded.
On-screen text & typography
Six tones, stacked diacritics, and fonts that survive them
Vietnamese is Latin-script but with the densest diacritic load of any major language — vowels routinely carry two marks stacked vertically (ế, ở, ữ). Fonts without true Vietnamese support render these as clipped, misaligned, or substituted glyphs, which is the single most common defect in Vietnamese e-learning. We verify rendering in the actual player at production sizes, and line-height allowances account for the taller marks.

One Vietnamese version, or north and south separately?
One version serves compliance and knowledge content nationwide — the accent choice is a tone decision, not a comprehension barrier. Separate regional narration is worth scoping only for high-affinity content like customer-facing service training, and it shares every other production asset.
Can you keep technical terms in English where our teams use them?
Yes — Vietnamese technical workplaces commonly mix established English terms into Vietnamese sentences. Your terminology list records which terms stay English and which use Vietnamese equivalents, so narration and on-screen text stay consistent with how your teams actually speak.
How fast can a Vietnamese version follow the master?
Days, not weeks — translation and adaptation begin once the master script is approved, in-country review runs on the document, and narration plus re-render follow sign-off. Multi-language launches (Vietnamese alongside Thai and Bahasa Indonesia is a common SEA set) run in parallel from the same master.
